sudbury.jpgSudbury, Massachusetts is a town in Middlesex County 20 miles west of Boston. The population was 16,841 at the 2000 census. It has the fifth highest per capita income in the state with a well regarded educational system.

Although business and entertainment areas are easily accessible, the area retains a relaxed rural and agricultural flavor. Rich in colonial history, many landmarks still stand. The areas historic sites include Longfellow's Wayside Inn, The Redstone Schoolhouse, The Grist Mill, and the Martha-Mary Chapel. The town hosts its historic roots from being settled in 1638. Today it has grown to a population of over 17,000 within 24 square miles.

Sudbury was given the ZIP code 01776 because after the Battle of Lexington and Concord, which occurred in 1775, members of the Sudbury militia sniped on British Red Coats who were returning to Boston. The town was noted for contributing the most militiamen to this battle against the British. Sudbury also contributed the most militia during King Philip's War.

The Sudbury Public Schools consists of four elementary schools, one middle school and two high The Sudbury residents place a high value on education with over 70% of the residents age 25 or older having a bachelors degree.
